Here’s everything you need to know about Jumeirah Golf Club starting with the courses.

The Golf Courses

There are two golf courses at Jumeirah Golf Estates, Earth and Fire, both are serviced by the ETPI Training Facility..

Earth Course

Earth is home to the season ending flagship event on the DP World Tour Championship and subsequently the top players compete against each other on Earth’s giant layout.  It’s also a course frequently played by the big guns too.

It’s a huge course with marbled bunkers, rolling fairways and mature landscaping creating an atmosphere and experience only a course purpose-built to host a tournament of the DP World Tour Championships’ magnitude could possess.

Earth is a colourful course that combines brilliant white colours against the deep red ochre, it represents colours that could almost have you thinking that you are golfing in the mediterranean.   The design of Earth was inspired by the great parkland courses of Europe and North America and incorporates everything that you need to totally enjoy your golfing experience.  From the picturesque views  along the landscape, to the wildlife and of course the golf!

Fire Course

A naturally authentic course, that retains its authenticity with the desert environment of Dubai. Fire is a tough course, but one that is playable and enjoyable for golfers of all abilities. It’s a much more refined and natural vibe at Fire, than Earth.  To some, this might seem backward - doesn’t it make sense to make Earth the natural course?  We say yes, and no - perhaps the designers were not alluding to the aesthetics when they named the course, but more to the nature of it.  This course is indeed fiery.

Expect rolling terrain and an ambiance in total harmony with its surroundings, with beautiful landscapes, trees, flora and gardens expertly laid out to create a charming and rustic experience that will be enjoyed by golfers and non golfers alike.

And because of this natural approach to the layout of Fire, each tee has a unique and natural perspective creating a variety of interest and challenge.  You’ll need to concentrate to master this course, some of the more obvious moves might not always be the answer. As the golf club itself says ‘Fire gives a strong sense of classic links-style play’ because ‘going directly at the flag is not always the best approach’ .

Flame Trees’ menu offers a wide variety of food which includes; salads and starters, soups, vegetarian options, slow cooked dishes, speciality dishes from the grill, burgers, steaks, a variety of fish and of course some mouth watering desserts.  There will be something here for everybody, with the exception of the vegan diet.  If you are vegan, it’s worth calling ahead to find out what options might be available to you.

Note:  The dress code is elegant, you are going to have to scrub up to dine here.

Fresca Delicatessen & Café

The beauty of Fresca is that it’s open early in the morning and has a fabulous breakfast menu which includes pastries, muesli, yoghurt, omelettes, bread and preserves, a variety of egg dishes such as Eggs Benedict and Eggs Royale, pancakes and grilled walnut bread with hass avocado.  The only thing missing, especially if you are a British Expat is a traditional English Breakfast.

Fresca opens from 7am to 7pm, it has a lovely fresh vibe and of course, has panoramic views and terraces for your dining pleasure.  Aside from the breakfast menu there are a further two menus which include a ‘Fresh Stonebaked Pizza & Sandwich Menu’ and a ‘Dessert Menu’.

You’ll be able to enjoy a reasonable selection of pizza, sandwiches, toasties, or a burger.  There are vegetarian options but nothing for Vegans.  If you are vegan it might be worth calling ahead to see if they can cater for you.

You don’t need to dress up to dine here, the dress code is casual.

Swirl Bar & Lounge

Also overlooks the 18th hole, and serves up a wonderful array of meals and snacks from 12pm through to 12am that range from fancy meals to a light bite.  Think of it as a combination of the casual Fresca Cafe and the Elegant Flame Tree Restaurant both in terms of food and dress (you don’t need to dress up, but smart casual is the key here - another example of a perfect compromise of the two options).

The staple panoramic views inside and outside are of course present in the Swirl Bar too.

The Sports Bar

If you enjoy a relaxed setting with a really good choice of food to suit all tastes, then the Sports Bar is the place to be.

The Sports Bar is open from 6am to midnight, but whilst you can enjoy your morning coffee here, you’ll have to wait until 11.30am to grab a bite to eat.  They serve food from 11.30 am through to 10.45pm and you can enjoy the English Breakfast here too, even if you do have to have it for brunch.

The menu is wide and varied - and very appealing.  You’ll enjoy sharing platters, nacho’s and a variety of starters. A bigger choice of pizzas than the Fresca Cafe.  Sandwiches and smaller bites, baked potatoes, chicken buckets, quesadillas and wraps are all available along with a selection of desserts, including churro’s - yum!

Dress code is casual, there is vegetarian options, but if you need Vegan, you’ll need to call ahead to discuss, or ask to edit the dish slightly.
